After 5-7 days have passed since the surgery (usually following the first check-up and removal of the silicone nasal splint), you can travel by plane with your physician's approval. During the first week, due to swelling in the facial area and in-cabin pressure changes, making long flights without consulting your doctor is not recommended.
The "Fit to Fly" report required at the airport for our patients who will fly is prepared by our clinic.
You can go on short and bump-free road trips from the first day post-surgery. Still, because you are yet at the beginning of healing, postponing very long, bumpy, and tiring travels will be to your benefit.
Although the patient can make a car trip 1 day after surgery, they MUST return to the clinic for the 1st week follow-up check and silicone nasal splint removal. Removing the silicone nasal splint is not a simple procedure; it is an inseparable part of the surgery.
